Our student ministry is designed to help teens Encounter God, Encourage Each Other and Engage The World

The White Flag Social is the student community of ENCOUNTER that seeks to follow in the way of Jesus. The journey of faith is the journey of continual surrender and a life that bears witness to the redemptive kingdom of God. We are a student led revolution.

The name White Flag Social derives from a story told by Victor Hugo about the French Revolution. Hugo writes about a group of teenagers who overthrew a government. At the height of battle a group teenaged leaders are rounded up by the opposition and put on a firing line. The youngest among the leaders is a 13 year old boy who is told he can go home, he is too young to die. Hugo says the boy stood, unmoved, holding a white flag declaring, “Here I am!”. The White Flag Social is the student community of Encounter, committed to the belief that students are an incendiary force for calling out the arrival of the Kingdom of God.
