PERFORMING ARTS 2024
Choir program for kids & students, ages 4 - grade 8
Praise Kids is our fall musical program that gives children and middle school students the opportunity to experience the Performing Arts. All fall, kids learn and rehearse the Christmas musical, Bethlehem Beat. The performance dates are December 7 at 6 pm, and December 8 at 9 & 10:45 am.
If you and your child are ready to commit to our fall performing arts program and participate in our Christmas community outreach production, here’s what you need to know: Registration is the first requirement to participate in the December performances.
Children ages 4 (as of October 1) through grade 8 rehearse Tuesday evenings starting August 20:
- Ages 4 – Kindergarten rehearse from 4:30 – 5:15 pm in Room 103
- Grades 1 – 8 rehearse from 5:30 – 6:30 pm in the main Auditorium
These rehearsal times will change to 5:30 – 6:15 pm for Ages 4 – Kindergarten and 5:30 – 7:30 pm for Grades 1 – 8 on Tuesday, November 12 for our ALL CAST & Choir Rehearsals. Tech and Dress Rehearsals are Tuesday through Thursday, December 3 – 5, during those same blocks of time.
There are no rehearsals on the following Tuesdays for the reasons noted:
- Tues, September 3 – Auditions for grades 2-8
- Tues, October 29 – Fall Break
- Tues, November 26 – Thanksgiving Week
Registrations
Online registration is open now and in-person registrations begin Sunday, August 4. A small fee is required to cover the cost of a music folder, thumb drive, music link or CD of music/dialogue, t-shirt, award, calendar and parent information. Fees for participation are:
- Grades 1 – 8: $45 for 1st child; $40 for each additional child
- Ages 4 – Kindergarten: $35 (music folder not included)
- Scholarships available upon completion of request form: $30 per child
Auditions
Auditions for children grades 2 through 8 will be on Tuesday, September 3 or Thursday, September 5 with Call Backs on September 6 in the main Auditorium for those interested in performing an additional role in drama, dance, and/or singing a solo. Registration to audition must be done in person.
We encourage children and students to audition in as many areas as they are interested. Most main character roles will require auditioning in Vocal (singing a solo), Dance and Drama. Attendance on either Tuesday or Wednesday evening is sufficient but your child MUST be available to attend Call Backs on Friday evening when desiring a part. Specific audition times for September 3 or 5 are as follows:
Call Backs on September 6 are from 5:30 – 8:30 pm. This is the time our Production Team is looking for direction from the Lord in making the final casting decisions so it is very important your child attends. If a child becomes part of our ALL CAST after auditions, their extended rehearsals on Tuesday evenings will be from 6:30 – 7:45 pm starting September 10. These times will extend to 8 pm for our rehearsals on October 22, November 5, 12 and 19 and change to 5 – 8 pm for our Tech & Dress Rehearsals on December 3-5.
Auditions for singing a solo for children ages 4 through Kindergarten will be held Monday, September 30 at 5:30 pm in Room 103.
