In 2000, our church began a partnership with La Montaña Christian Camp in Costa Rica, led by Joe and Lori Pent. The camp has hosted more than 135,000 Latin American youth since its inception. Over the years we’ve sent student and adult teams to serve at camp. The staff at LAMA are a part of our church family, so when something difficult happens to them, we feel it, too.
Here is an update from Joe Pent on April 2:
Friends and family of La Montaña… THANK YOU! We have surpassed in donations what was stolen from us a few weeks ago! This is nothing short of a miracle!! Please join us in praising our RISEN SAVIOR for this supernatural miracle!
We have begun to purchase the stolen items in order of priority and we have also moved aggressively toward improving the security at camp. We have installed new lighting and this week will install a video surveillance system as well as an intercom at our entry gate to avoid opening our doors to any unwanted guests. We are in the process of redoing all of the doors and points of entry where equipment is stored with new secure steel doors and locking systems. You can say that La Montaña has never been this safe.
Please keep praying for us as we take this excitement and translate it into a more aggressive strategy for reaching the youth of Costa Rica and Latin America! God is good and capable of doing well beyond anything that we could ask or imagine! (Ephesians 3:20-21)
God is good! Praisalujah!!
Please join us in praying for LAMA. If you’d like to make a financial contribution, you can donate here.
