The Christian Tradition has a rich history of music! We see the first song, the “Song of Moses” show up in Exodus 15. For thousands of years, God’s people have responded in worship and praise through song. We generally refer to these songs as “hymns” which means “songs of praise”.

One of these great songs is “All Creatures of Our God and King”. The original lyrics were written as a poem by St. Francis of Assisi in 1225. Echoing Psalm 145 and 148, this song calls all creation to praise the Father, The Spirit, and the Son. It’s really amazing how lyrics written so long ago still move us to worship even today!

My band Common Courier’s “Hymns” album releases this Friday, and “All Creatures of Our God and King” was the first song we recorded for it! You can watch the video below. Join us 8/11 and 8/12 at ENCOUNTER as we sing a collection of these great songs and explore the truth and stories behind them! You can also be the first to take a CD home!

We’ll also be hosting an Album Release Party and Hymn Sing at Garman’s in Santa Paula Sunday night 8/12 at 6:30pm! Free admission and all ages! (Call to reserve a table if you want to make sure you have a spot 805.933.4600)
