White Flag Weekend is a weekend when high schoolers and middle schoolers come together to grow in Christ and serve the community of Ventura. Families in the church graciously open up their homes to the students and the leaders and as a leader myself, I once again want to say thank you!

It’s been several weeks and I’m still asked how White Flag Weekend impacted me and the students. It is hard to explain, but if I had to describe it though in one sentence, I would say – God is moving in these students! The weekend theme was “Vibes” and included teaching sessions and small group times where the students came together to learn more about God and the word. The lessons encouraged us to find God in all the crazy human emotions we can feel. I was encouraged to see the students open up in small group about how God was working through them.
On Saturday part of the day was spent serving in the community. I led the high school girls in their service project which was cleaning up a home that was not very clean. I have to admit, I struggled with the task. However, not a single one of my students complained. I saw all of them take on a servant’s attitude of Jesus Christ and I was incredibly proud of them.

White Flag Weekend was confirmation that God works in the hearts of believers of all ages young and old.
