Breathe is a 10-day retreat intentionally created for the renewal and encouragement of singles, couples, and families who serve in cross-cultural settings all over the world. Breathe is led by Dr. Daniel and Lori Hahn of Catalyst Int'l, an organization dedicated to supporting Christian leaders in highly challenging global environments. Counseling, medical consultation, and massage therapy are provided. In addition, there are fun programs for preschoolers, elementary children, and teens.
All of this takes place against the backdrop of the Swiss Alps. There is time to hike, rest, have fun, pursue spiritual renewal alone, and with others.
Breathe is best suited for North American or Western European English speaking international workers.
Location
Breathe is held at Credo, a Christian conference center located in Wilderswil, Switzerland near Interlaken. Credo has a view of the majestic glacier of the Jungfrau on one side and the Lake of Brienz on the other side. Situated in the heart of one of Switzerland’s most breathtaking regions, there are opportunities for hiking, cycling, rock climbing, swimming, and other outdoor activities. Credo has 125 beds (most rooms have showers and toilets en-suite or down the hall).
There are sitting areas, a playground, soccer and volleyball grounds, and terraces with panoramic views. The kitchen staff prepare excellent Swiss meals, and there is a snack bar on site. The charming Swiss village of Wilderswil is a five minute walk from Credo.
Program
Breathe is intentionally designed to give you time and space in a tranquil setting. Morning sessions at Breathe include worship, learning, and discussion. Personal counseling is available each afternoon for singles, couples, and families. Our counseling staff have years of experience in cross-cultural ministry and Christ-centered counseling. Free medical consultations and professional massage therapy are also available.
Children & Teens
Preschool care is provided in the mornings by a loving staff. Elementary children participate in a Vacation Bible School type of program filled with crafts, games, activities, and music in both mornings and afternoons. Teens take part in worship, devotions, and discussions about TCK issues as well as hiking, swimming, games, and hanging out. Our preschool, elementary, and youth workers are excited to be with your kids and get to know them!
Fees
Rates are reduced for children and teens (up to age 15). Fees for 10 nights include room, breakfast, 2-course lunch, 3-course dinner, counseling, medical consultation, and massage. A deposit of $150 per adult or $300 per couple/family reserves your spot. The balance is due upon arrival payable in Swiss francs or by debit or credit card.
Getting To Breathe
The nearest airport is Zurich, Switzerland. International flights also fly into Geneva, Basel or Bern. Both Zurich and Geneva Airports are directly connected to the excellent Swiss network of public transportation. Hourly trains take you from Zurich Airport to Wilderswil in 2 h 30 m and from Geneva Airport in 3 h. Guests arrive Wednesday, June 19 (our first gathering is dinner that evening). The last night of the program is Friday, June 28; guests depart following breakfast on Saturday, June 29.
